2015 Svalbard Photographic Expedition – Trip Report

Gerry van der Walt Uncategorized Leave a Comment

On 15 May 2015 I boarded the M/S Stockholm with 11 guests to start my third photographic expedition in Svalbard.

Photographs are great and I look forward to sharing some of my own and our guest images in future posts but even with mind-blowing visuals it’s very difficult to share the Svalbard experience and tell people what it’s like.  It’s a place that touches you deep inside, changes the way you see the world and yourself and truly qualifies as the quintessential bucket list destination.

During our 11 day expedition I used my iPhone to record short video clips and images of the expedition experience, sightings and some behind the scenes action to try and share what it’s like to immerse yourself in Svalbard.  All the images and videos in the videos were shot using my iPhone so just imagine what you could do with a normal DSLR camera.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to visit Svalbard on a small expedition vessel grab a cup of coffee, sit back and join me as I take you on a day by day journey of our photographic experience.

Thanks a lot to al the staff on the M/S Stockholm, our guides and all the guests who shared in this amazing experience.  Spectacular photography aside, the many laughs shared and memories made is really the most important thing we will all take with us.

It has been an incredible adventure.

Until next time.
