Last Thursday Wild Eye hosted around 70 people at our offices in the Design Quarter in Fourways for a presentation on the Masai Mara.

The presentation was aimed at sharing our amazing experiences in the Mara this year and to showcase the brand new Wild Eye Mara Camp.  Sharing the magic and beauty of the Masai Mara was not difficult and made for a visual feast of images and stories.

It was fantastic sharing our amazing Mara adventures with people who are really keen on experiencing some Mara magic for themselves as well and Andrew wowed the crowd with amazing images, information and tales from the various photographic safaris and general departures we hosted at our very own camp on the banks of the Mara River.

It was great having five of the six Wild Eye Ambassadors at the event and many people took the opportunity to chat wildlife and landscape photography with Andrew Aveley, Mark Dumbleton and Morkel Erasmus as well as discuss the various photographic safaris they will be leading with Wild Eye in 2013.

But, there was another reason for the event – the lucky draw in which one person would win a fully inclusive photo safari to the Masai Mara in 2013.

During the recent Photo & Film Expo more than 1,200 people wrote their name on a card and dropped into a Clik Elite bag with the hope that their name would be drawn so they can join Wild Eye in the Masai Mara in 2013.

The rules were simple:

[list type=”bullet”]
  • Drop your name and details into the Clik Elite bag at the Expo
  • Like the Wild Eye Facebook page
  • The first name drawn would be checked against the Wild Eye Facebook page
  • If that person liked the page they would be declared the winner

So, after the presentation last week it was time to do the lucky draw.

All the entries were mixed up in a container and Glen McKenzie, manager of Small Business Management Services, was asked to do the draw.

We were aware that some people might not have liked the Wild Eye Facebook page, as per the rules,  so in order to not have to redraw again and again we asked Glen to draw twenty cards.

As each card was drawn we marked them from 1 through 20 on the back with the idea of checking the names against the Facebook page and, should it be necessary, move through the cards until we found our winner.

We started from card number one checked to see whether the person liked the Wild Eye Facebook page and as luck would have it we found our winner on the very first card that was drawn!

Even better was that our winner was present so we could break the news to them right then and there!

A big congratulations to Seyms Brugger!

Seyms dropped his card into the lucky draw during the Photo & Film Expo, has been following the Wild Eye Facebook page since 2011 and will now be joining Wild Eye on a photographic safari to the Masai Mara in 2013!

Seyms with Andrew, myself, Jono and the lucky card that won him a trip to the Masai Mara!

Thanks to everybody who entered the competition!

Even though you might not have won the lucky draw there are still two more spots on a 2013 Masai Mara photo safari up for grabs in the 2012 Wild Eye Nature Photography Competition.  Yeah, two spots!

If you have any wildlife and nature images they could win you a trip to the Masai Mara so check out this link and start uploading those images!

Once again, thanks to everybody who entered and congratulations to Seyms Brugger.  We look forward to sharing the magic of the Masai Mara with you!

Until next time.
