Nope, no polar bear images just yet…
But here goes with a cute little Arctic Fox.

One of the target species during our Svalbard expedition was Arctic Foxes.
I have, in the past, seen many images of them and on the last day of the trip we were lucky enough to find a den where two of the pups, or kits, kept us photographically entertained for more than an hour.
The bright overcast conditions made for great photography and since these little guys live on an island which does not see humans all that often, they were rather inquisitive. Combined with patience and some long lenses we all walked away with some amazing images.
Like reindeer, Arctic Foxes make for great photography in soft or backlit situations. The fur just comes alive and adds lovely texture to the images.
As we walked back to the Zodiacs I turned and shot image to show the misty, lush green area the foxes call home. (Their den was located in the grey rocks at the bottom right of the mountain.)
Would love to see this scene in winter all covered with snow and photograph Arctic Foxes with their pure white coats.
Watch this space!
Until next time.
