The behind the frame series takes RAW wildlife images, works through the technical specifications of the image and then looks at how the image is edited in Lightroom.

In this episode I work on an elephant image taken in the Amboseli National Park. The reason for it is that one of my Instagram followers asked me to do a Behind The Frame episode using this image and so, here it is;

    Hi Mike
    Sitting here watching this on an extremely wet Durban afternoon. I really, really enjoyed it and feel more confident re. using the graduated filter tool. Am I being a bit stupid here but why does your masking turn green when mine turns red?

      Hello Sallie

      Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the episode & and very glad to know that it helped you.

      JHB is also extremely wet as well, Loving the weather!

      The reason why its green is because I changed it from red to green in my settings.

          Hello Sallie

          When using any localized adjustment tool, push O to see the overlay, then push and hold Shift and push O and you will see the colour change.

          Default colour – Red

          By following the above instruction you will see, green, white & black.

    Mike,

    At last I now know how to erase the graduated filter. 👍

    Now to remember to expose for lightroom when taking shots
