Acting like Leopards

Canon 1D MkIII, Canon 300 mm IS F2.8, 1/640, f/2.8, ISO 400

Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Who says only East Africa’s lions climb trees? This photograph was taken in Hwange National Park during the rainy season early in 2011.

The two young animals were both in a very playful mood after having devoured their fair share of a fresh giraffe carcass. The tree’s skew trunk made it relatively easy for them to climb to the main fork, but once up there they didn’t really know what to do with themselves. The wet bark made coming down a spectacle!

Happy shooting!
