 Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana

Although this might look like a sunset, it was actually a sunrise. The photo was taken at 06:17 in Mashatu Game Reserve on one of those mornings when you least expect it.

I was driving along on an overcast morning looking for a specific leopard female and her two cubs. Just before sunrise the clouds started clearing up a little bit, but I wasn’t expecting what I saw next: Moments before the sun came up, the sky turned from dull grey into bright orange.  It seemed like it was on fire!

I jumped out of my car to get a photo or two and stood there in amazement as the colours disappeared as quickly as they had appeared.
