#beinspiredby: Giraffe

Last week we received some incredible animal behaviour images that fell under Marlon’s #beinspiredby:theme. This week I am hosting, and I cant wait to see what images will be shared!

As with the new layout and direction of our #beinspiredby posts, I will be posting a video on Monday where I will present the top 5 images from the theme.

So, what’s the theme for tomorrow then?

4 April 2014:  Giraffe

An incredibly curious creature, this long-necked and big-eyed creature is truly an iconic African animal.

From standing still and doing nothing to walking the great plains of the Masai Mara, from using its long purplish-black tongue to grasp leaves to males undergoing ‘necking’ duels, giraffe are truly great subjects to photograph!

Generally when people travel to Africa, they tend to focus on capturing the ‘mighty’ Big 5 and apex predators. What I have noticed on the safaris that I have hosted is that more often than not, people end up spending more time photographing giraffe and exploring the different photographic opportunities that these strange, but beautiful, creatures present.
