I am sure that this is something that everyone has seen at some stage whilst on safari, or on your favorite wildlife photographer’s images.
Cheetah are usually found within open landscapes, areas that are well-suited to their distinct hunting style of chasing down prey at high speeds. Obstacles such as tree’s and shrubs would greatly hinder the success of a hungry cheetah.
Cheetah are also the least dominant of all the large predators and are always susceptible to attack by lion, leopard and hyena.
By elevating themselves, either using a fallen tree, the tree itself or perhaps termite mounds, they give themselves the added advantage of not only spotting prey in the distance, but also of being able to see potential danger coming their way.
