The organisation of the trip was absolutely professional, the destination was perfect, the accommodation was exactly what we needed. The photographic support was always available when needed.Sabine Bergmann
This is the most fantastic organised trip I’ve been to! The camp staff was just outstanding, kind, polite, helpful and heartwarm people – comfortable beds, showers and toilets made this a winner.Ingeborg Loseth
Our Big Cats & Tuskers photo safari has proven to be extremely popular and the itinerary takes us to some of Kenya’s most famous wildlife destinations. After three years of amazing safaris we have looked at all the feedback and suggestions from our guests and in order to make the Big Cats & Tuskers itinerary even better.
We have since made the following changes and ‘upgrades‘ to the safari:
- Less driving time – we have included local flights from Nairobi to the Masai Mara and from Amboseli to Nairobi!
- More photography time in the Mara – we will arrive in the Mara 5 hours earlier making for more time in the field!
- Two boat rides on Lake Naivasha – we will be doing an afternoon and morning boat ride on Lake Naivasha!
- More photography time in Amboseli – since we are flying out of Amboseli we will have another full day in the field!
Day 1 to 4
During the first three days of our photo safari we will focus our photographic attention on the large cats of the Masai Mara. Sightings of lion, cheetah and leopard are normally great in the Mara and combined with the open grasslands makes for amazing photographic opportunities. The authentic Wild Eye Camp will play host to our stay in the Mara and from it’s location on the bank of the Mara River ensures maximum time out in the field.
Day 4 to 7
Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru offers amazing bird photography and adds a great dimension to this photo safari. For the two nights we will be staying at lodges close to the lakes which will again ensure maximum photographic time both around Lake Nakuru and from small boats on Lake Naivasha.
Day 6 to 9
The last three days of our African safari will be spent in the magical Amboseli National Park where we will aim to, with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background, photograph large herds of elephants and an amazingly diverse range of landscapes.
Day 9: After another early morning game drive in Amboseli we will board our short flight back to Nairobi and then head back home from there.
Wild Eye Mara Camp
There is nothing like spending the night camped out in one of Kenya’s premier conservation areas. Making use of campsites in the Mara Triangle and Amboseli Wild Eye will ensure that your authentic safari experience during this photo safari is a memorable one.
Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge
Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys. It is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns.
Lake Nakuru Sarova Lodge
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park.
Wild Eye Amboseli Camp
There is nothing like spending the night camped out in one of Kenya’s premier conservation areas.
Making use of the same camp we used in the Masai Mara, you feel right at home but this time with a view of Kilimanjaro!
