Its been a crazy couple of days here at the Wild Eye office as Gerry and Jono prepare for their trip to Svalbard and I have been working feverishly on the logistics for our Masai Mara migration season. In amongst all this mayhem I am stoked to be heading up to Madikwe Game Reserve for 2 days of private guiding with a client who has just upgraded his camera gear through us as well (Its not a focus of our business but we are always happy to give advice and help source the best prices on gear).
Madikwe is a special place and I first set foot on the reserve back in 2002 as a student looking for a base from which to do my practical year as part of my studies. Ever since then I have had a bit of a love affair with Madikwe and apart from the conservation safari we ran earlier this year this will be one of the first times that I have been back to where it all began for me.
The Wild Dog is synonymous with this reserve and even though I will only be there for two days I am hoping to bump into these beautiful creatures once again.
After that, I am back in JHB for one night before heading off to Pilanesberg for our Wildlife Photography Course on Saturday/Sunday. I think it is safe to say that safari season has begun!
