Description

For many people around the world the Great Migration epitomises the ultimate African safari experience and is still one of the quintessential bucket list items that any wildlife and nature enthusiast should tick off of their list at least once. Wildlife photographers also know that the Migration offers incredible photographic opportunities and many portfolios and award winning images have been captured during the annual journey of more than 1.5 million Wildebeest and roughly 500,000 Zebra through the Mara Serengeti ecosystem.

One of the world’s most iconic destinations, the Masai Mara teems with wildlife is one of the best wildlife photography destinations in the world. During August & September over 2 million animals gather on its plains setting the scene for one of nature’s most incredible spectacles and undoubtedly the best wildlife and photographic experience in Africa.

By combining the exclusivity of the Wild Eye Mara Camp and the passion, knowledge and experience of our team in East Africa, we have taken the Masai Mara experience to a whole new level with this great migration photographic safari, giving you what we believe is the very best great migration photo safari on offer in the  Masai Mara.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1:

The adventure begins at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 07:00 in the morning where you will be met and transferred to Wilson Airport for your scenic flight into the Masai Mara departing at around 10:15. A 45 minute flight will see us landing in the heart of the Mara Triangle Conservancy where, upon arrival we will head out in search of the wildlife that roam the plains, returning to camp for lunch unless we should find or hear of any potential river crossings.

Day 2 to 6:

Our prime location makes it possible for us to explore the banks of the Mara River at first light and puts us in the perfect position to photograph the massive herds of wildebeest as they build up and ultimately start crossing the Mara River.Usually we enjoy a packed breakfast whilst out on drive, maximizing our time out in the field, before returning to camp for lunch. Each days schedule will be discussed with you by your facilitator over dinner or whilst processing images in the dedicated Media Centre.

Day 7:

On the last morning we will, after our morning safari and breakfast, take a leisurely drive back to camp where there will be time to enjoy lunch and freshen up, before heading to the airstrip from where we will again board a charter plane for the flight back to Nairobi (arriving at 17:00). Upon arrival in Nairobi a short transfer will take us back to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where the safari comes to an end around 18:00.

  • Would it be enough if I say that I will only travel with Wild-Eye in Africa from now on ... :-))

  • All day long in the bushveld either on a sighting or looking for a sighting, no bounded by time schedule ! Gerry and Andrew are always available to help us to improve our skills and on a sighting they let us take picture , give their place if the positioning is better : to summarise they are here for helping us and not for taking their own picture !

  • What words can describe the beauty of a place which leaves such a profound and positive impact on your life? A place which allowed us to see and experience sightings which gave me the best photographic opportunities of my life? I don't think there are any, so my shots and memories will speak for themselves and I will always be able to look back on this experience with wonder and a smile on my face! Thank you Gerry, Marlon, Tim, Dixon and the rest of team Wild Eye, I hope to book another safari again someday!

  • Doing the Migration has always been a dream of mine and on my bucket list, but due to the high expense it had always been out of reach for me and something I would do when I am older. Wild Eye has fulfilled this dream and I will be forever thankful for this experience. It was better than expected and I learnt so much. As Grazer said " it is orgasmic"

  • My first experience with WildEye has been positive under all aspects. Having worked for many years in the safari business in Kenya it was great to see that a small dedicated group of people were able to reach new heights of quality and professionalism. Thank you WildEye for a truly wonderful experience.
