Detailed Description:

India is a land of mystique, a land filled with natural wonder, ancient customs, fascinating history and yes, Tigers & other wonderful wildlife.

In the central regions of India lies 3 safari regions known not only for producing some of the best Tiger sightings in the world, not only for the wealth of wildlife that occur there including leopard, sloth bear & wild dogs, but also for its diverse & scenic landscapes steeped in beauty & history.

Bandhavgarh, Pench & Kanha National Parks are all located in close proximity to one another in central India, and offers a diverse & exciting safari experience.
It’s no secret that Tigers are at the top of the list when it comes to experiencing India’s wildlife, and this safari will have Tigers aplenty. All three of these reserves have high densities of tigers, and the most notable of those is Bandhavgarh where we’ll spend 4 nights enjoying safari experiences at the end of the safari.

To see a Tiger in the wild for the very first time, is like something you’ll never forget. It’s better than what you can imagine. Finding words to describe that feeling is hard, it takes your breath away.

This safari takes place at the end of the dry season during the month of April, and this also affords you the very best chance of seeing tigers in abundance. During the late dry season the surface water is restricted to the last few large remaining water bodies. During the heat of the day Tigers are drawn to these water holes and this is where you stand the very best chance of seeing them.
As the tiger’s prey also need water on a daily basis, the odds of finding tigers on the hunt around the remaining waterholes are very good.

This safari is designed in order to give you the best possible opportunity to see & experience India’s tigers & other wildlife.

There’s also more to this safari experience than only tigers. All three reserves are blessed with an abundance of wildlife. There’s a strong likelihood of leopard encounters, most notably in Pench.
Sloth bears also occupy the reserves, and as does India’s wild dogs, or locally known as Dhole.
There’s also fantastic game viewing opportunities of striking antelope such as spotted deer, sambhar deer, nilgai, barking deer. In fact, the region boasts more than 35 mammal species & over 250 species of birds.

Throughout this safari experience we will be hosted by the experienced camps & team from Pugdundee Safaris. Pugdundee’s first camp opened in 1986 and since then, they’ve added 5 more safari camps across the region. The camps are mostly set in remote regions away from the busy tourism hubs. This allows guests a sense of wild freedom & also has a positive influence on neighbouring communities.

This exciting safari experience to India’s central wildlife reserves presents you with an incredible opportunity to see & experience the wild riches that India has to offer, all whilst staying in fantastic safari camps & being hosted by highly experienced guides & naturalists. Spending 4 nights at each of these unique camps offers you the best opportunity to enjoy the wonders that each location has to offer.

There’s no doubt that this is one safari experience you simply don’t want to miss out on.

Safari Itinerary

This safari spans across 13 days & 3 wildlife reserves. The reserves are location within a relatively short driving distance of one another, and therefore all movements between camps will be done by road.

Day 1
Arrive in New Delhi & spend the night at a hotel, the name of which will be advised by Wild Eye closer to the date of the safari. The costs of this hotel will not be included in the overall safari quote.

Day 2
Early morning transfer from the hotel to the airport for a flight to Nagpur, flight duration being just over 1 hour. From here we’ll drive across to Pench National Park, a 4 hour long journey in 2 air-conditioned vehicles.
We will stay at Pench Tree Lodge, operated by Pugdundee Safaris.
We will aim to be at camp by midday where we’ll enjoy lunch, an opportunity to settle in & to get ready for the afternoon’s safari experience.

Day 3, 4 and 5
We will enjoy full safari in Pench. It will be hot during this time of year & wildlife activity will undoubtedly be best during the mornings and afternoons. We won’t spend full day’s in the park as the heat might become a hindrance & deterrent. The best game viewing opportunities will be during the cooler times of the day.
Between safaris we will spend time working on any wildlife images captured during the safari, and there will be an opportunity to enjoy lunch & a siesta before the afternoon safari activity.
Your Wild Eye guide will be on hand at all times to assist with any photographic-related questions.

Day 6
After a morning safari experience in Pench, we will depart by road for Kanha, approximately 4 hours away. The plan is to arrive in time for a quick lunch and to ready ourselves for the afternoon safari activity.
We will stay at Kanha Earth Lodge, operated by Pugdundee Safaris.

Day 7
A full day at Kanha will be enjoyed, once again visiting the reserve during the best game viewing times – mornings & afternoons.

Day 8
On Wednesday all parks in the region are closed during the afternoons. This is unavoidable & therefore on this day we will enjoy a full morning safari followed by a hearty lunch back at camp. In the afternoon we will visit a local village & enjoy learning about the rich & diverse culture. There will also be wonderful photographic opportunities on hand in the village, an experience not to be taken for granted. The people of India are incredibly beautiful & photogenic & we have no doubt that this will be a highlight of the overall experience.

Day 9
A full day at Kanha will be enjoyed, once again visiting the reserve during the best game viewing times – mornings & afternoons.

Day 10
We’ll enjoy a morning safari in Kanha, after which we will depart by road for Bandhavgarh National Park, approximately 6 hours away. The driving between reserves give you the opportunity to get sense of the land and where you find yourselves. It’s a special experience & one you’ll be sure to enjoy.
We will stay at Kings Lodge, operated by Pugdundee Safaris.

Day 11, 12 and 13
We will enjoy full safari in Bandhavgarh.

Day 14
After a morning safari in Bandhavgarh, we’ll depart by road for Jabalpur Airport. This is an estimated 4 hours by road. We will board a flight that should see us arriving back in New Delhi by 18:30 in the early evening. This gives you the opportunity to book a evening flight back home from Delhi. This might change for an earlier flight from Jabalpur, and will be confirmed a little closer to the time.
