Description

Adjacent to the magnificent Kruger National Park lies a region that established itself within the safari industry several decades ago. The region became known for incredible game viewing, most notably that of the big cats. The land was mostly privately owned & operated and the presence of so many people within the safari area meant wildlife became incredibly relaxed. It did not take long for tourists to turn it into a photographic safari hotspot & it’s now known to produce some of the most incredible game viewing in Africa. This Timbavati Photo Safari aims to open up this region to you and reveal it’s hidden gems in an authentic safari experience.

The Timbavati Photo Safari takes place at the rustic Umlani Bushcamp – in the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Its’ an award-winning camp & prides itself in a minimal impact on nature whilst delivering exceptional service to it’s guests.

Game viewing in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is exceptional, with an abundance of the big five as well as hyena, honey badger, kudu, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, waterbuck, impala and warthog. The larger and more rare antelopes like Roan, Eland and Tsessebe have been slow to return to the area, but the critically endangered African wild dog is a regular visitor.
The terrain varies from Acacia thornveld and Marula trees to open savannah grasslands as well as dense riverines with majestic Jackalberry and Fig trees, allowing for superb game viewing and of course, photography.

South Africa is a country filled with many incredible sights & destinations, and the Timbavati Photo Safari can easily be combined with several other great destinations. It’s a short 2 hour travel distance, by plane & road from Johannesburg making it ideal any avid nature lover.

Our four night Timbavati Photo Safari is fully inclusive of all meals, drinks, return road transfers from JHB and even an overnight sleep-out in a remote tree house overlooking a waterhole.

  • “An incredible experience! We all got along extremely well in the group and had a socially excellent trip. The sightings on safari and photographic opportunities were truly exceptional. In addition Andrew guided us to obtain the most terrific images. I also learned how to effectively use lightroom and I realised how my photographic knowledge and abilities have progressed in a short time. This was a really valuable experience from all aspects, and I look forward to my next safari with Wild Eye.”
