Google ‘photography rules’ and you get this, a list of websites telling you what rules you have to follow in order to create great images.
Yes, there definitely is a place for rules when you get started in photography and there is a reason that these rules are out there but rules and art have an uneasy type of relationship as they should not really go together.
One of these rules is the rule of odds which states that for an image to be better it needs an uneven amount of subjects in the frame such as 1, 3, or 5.
In this video I share some thoughts on this and why I think this rule, solid as it may seem, needs to be broken from time to time.
