“The more powerful and universal the theme in your image, the more powerful and universal the impact of the image. To put it another way; the more deeply they care, the stronger the story.” ~ David duChemin
This is not an image about elephants.
Creating an image about an elephant is easy.
Yes, there are elephants in the frame but the story is about something else. Something more.
This image has a theme.
Family. Protection. Vulnerable. Survival.
Any of those words could be used to describe this image and each of them will make you as the photographer approach your craft in the field, and the way you process your images, in a different way.
Any of those words will also affect the way people read your images.
As photographers it is our goal to make people feel our images, to think about them, and ultimately to care about the story we are trying to tell.
What stories are you telling with your images? Do people care?
Until next time.
