The Maasai call it Ol Doinyo Oiber – the white mountain.
We know it as Kilimanjaro and it is without a doubt one of Africa’s most iconic landmarks. The highest mountain in Africa makes for a spectacular backdrop to the Amboseli National Park and this is where we wrapped up our Big Cats & Tuskers photo safari.
Whenever I return from a trip there are many moments and images that stand out in my mind. During the next week or so I will be posting the trip report from our recent photo safari that took us to the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli but for now my thoughts seem to keep on coming back to the snow-capped peak rising into the equatorial sky.
Kilimanjaro is spectacular and the view from the Wild Eye Camp is without a doubt one of the best you can get.
On our first morning in Amboseli, at 05h15, I captured this image as a starry sky made way for the break of dawn over the white mountain.
During the next few weeks I will not only be sharing the trip report but also more images from our guests that shared this amazing experience with me.
The Maasai call it Ol Doinyo Oiber.
I call it spectacular.
Until next time.
