As you know the winner and runners up in the April 2012 Nature Photography Competition were announced yesterday.
Mark Dumbleton, a Johannesburg based wildlife and landscape photographer came in third with a fantastic Namibian landscape image. Now for his third placed image Mark won, among other things, a Memory Card Valet and Wrist Strap from Click Elite SA.
Since Mark also placed third in the January competition, winning the same prize, he contacted me to offer his third prize for April up to one of the other highly commend images. To that end, I asked Mark to select his image of choice out of the seven highly commended images and share a few thoughts as to why he chose it.
Here is Mark’s choice and a few of this thoughts.

I love the mood to the image. Sunset colors create superb “eye-candy” together with the running Wildebeest create a magical scene. I could see this hanging on a wall, printed as a very large canvas. Great composition, great mood, nice separation of the animal to the landscape, creating an altogether striking image!

This was a marvelous gesture from Mark and truly personifies the ‘sharing’ I have been carrying on about for so long! Thank you not only for sharing but also for selecting a great image!

Until next time.
