Using Lightroom to Manage Your Images on a Photo Safari

Adobe Lightroom is a fantastic piece of software that makes cataloging and processing your RAW files a pretty simple task.

The sorting and cataloging capabilities really come in handy on a photographic safari where , on a daily basis, you shoot a lot.

By staying on top of your RAW images and sorting them on the go you will streamline your entire workflow and make your life a whole lot easier when you get back from the trip.

In this video I share some thoughts on sorting your images while you are out in the field.

Until next time.

Thanks for the comment Winston. As mentioned to Meyr I prefer to have the freedom to turn the function on / off by using eh shift key but it just goes to show how many different ways there are to do the same thing in Lightroom. 🙂

An easier way to advance to the next picture rather than holding down the shift key is in the the Photo Menu click on Auto Advance. so when you hit a number or the X or P key you automatically advance to the next photo in the series

Thanks for the comment Myer. Yeah, that always works really well – really cool feature. I prefer to have the freedom to turn the function on / off by using eh shift key but it just goes to show how many different ways there are to do the same thing in Lightroom. 🙂

I love the advice from this video. I use a MUCH looser version of your sorting but am going to switch to this system. My laptop gets really bogged down when I’m importing and sorting through photos in LR. What laptops are the best for taking into the field when you’re shooting?

Thanks for the comment Kelly. I am currently using a 13″ Macbook Pro for all my trips. It is small and easy to travel with and I then simply plug in an externa HDD which I use to back up all my RAW files. I know that the Mac AIr is also great and combined with a large external hard drive makes for a great on-the-road laptop. Not too sure about PC’s for the road as I have been using Mac for quite some time! 🙂

Hi Gerry- Thanks for the response!
I’ve read great reviews on the Macs so I’m glad to know it works well in the field paired with an external HD. The Pro is going on my wish list for sure! Thanks Gerry 🙂
